Biography
Art is an activity of the Spirit, expressed through the sensitivity of artists who seek to give form to Chaos.
The artist plays God: he unveils the reality of the imaginary, gives substance to other parallel dimensions, rolls the dice.
My artistic research investigates the origin of form in its phenomenal becoming, in infinite possible worlds.
I try to indulge the potential of raw material (clay, cement, plaster, paper,…) by sublimating it in modelling with pure lines, volumes and clear surfaces, often painted.
My cultural references range from archaism to the Middle Ages, from futurism to metaphysics.
As a child I wanted to become a saint: with my mother in Rome I used to do the Tour of the Seven Churches and the splendour of the great basilicas touched me deeply.
When I was older, while I was posing for my sister, a student at the art school, I listened to her stories of the artists and dreamt of that world.
After classical high school and two years of university, I attended sculpture and decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, and later, in Sicily, at Castel di Tusa, I had the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of ceramics.
In the meantime, my education was enriched by contact with artists, young emerging or already established, from the Roman artistic environment, which was in full ferment in the late 70s and throughout the 80s.
On the occasion of the birth of my son, in ’97, I felt the need to return to my roots, to Formia, where I dedicated myself to teaching in the secondary school and where I still live and work.
